Is the InfraGard Program Open to everyone?
No, the FBI conducts background checks on each member. Members will be approved by the FBI local field office. Local IMA's also have a say in who becomes a member and may decide to apply other policies and regulations for membership in their IMA.
Legal Residents:
InfraGard membership was limited to U.S. Citizens, since June 2010 the program has been open to legal residents as defined by 8 CFR 245.

The FBI's InfraGard Program is a National Program, open to US Citizens and legal residents as defined by 8CFR 245. Local Alliances are free to establish working relationships with similar law enforcement groups in foreign countries

What do InfraGard Members do?
- Attend both open and secure meetings and events
- Regularly interact with the FBI and other industry leaders at meetings and events
- Report to the FBI and law enforcement matters of mutual concern
- Socialize with like minded security and risk management professionals
- Work and exchange information with National, State and local Law Enforcement officials and others secure members
- Join a local InfraGard Members Alliance and be engaged with there growth and committee work
- Bring best practices to light and offer presentations to the membership
- Learn about and apply for the FBI's Citizen's Academy
- Understand the relationship between the FBI and the InfraGard National Members Alliance (national board) INMA
- Understand FBI is a Federal Law Enforcement Agency that manages the InfraGard Program from there public/private alliance unit (PPAU)
- Learn about and volunteer for committee work with INMA (InfraGard National Members Alliance) is the private sector national board
- Understand INMA works to establish deeper relationships for the local InfraGard Members Alliances
- INMA helps local alliances develop boards, legal structure and organizes the national business meeting annually (annual business meeting is referred to as "Congress")
- The INMA signed a MOU (memorandum of understanding) with the FBI which outlines the public/private relationship
- Each local alliance needs to sign off on this MOU in order to be recognized as an OFFICAL / accredation

How many local IMA's (InfraGard Member Alliances) are there?
There are 85 alliances with a number of others either coming on board or folding into a larger alliance so that they can be more effective. Each of these alliances are affiliated with one of the 56 field offices of the FBI, they all work with an InfraGard Coordinator, a Special Agent of the FBI local field Office

Is a local alliance or the national alliance a for profit, not for profit or mixed use corporation?
InfraGard Member Alliances whether the National Alliance(1) or local alliances (85) are all 501 C3 as determined by the IRS and have filled with there respective states and are known as Not For Profit Corporations. There is no mixed corporate use of InfraGard, nor any subdivision which lobbys or is politically active. Private sector members of InfraGard are either privately employed, publically employed or have there own businesses. InfraGard Alliances are Not For Profit businesses that seek donations, grants, sell items, training, and many other creative things to generate various revenues during the calendar year to help promote the InfraGard Program

- Have special outtings and charge for those events

No, members of the FBI InfraGard Program are limited to individuals and its FREE. However,
Companies can talk to an IMA about:
- Be corporate sponsors
- Be corporate associates (just like corporate membership) supporting the program there employees attend
- Provide facilities for holding events
- Provide food for breakfast and lunch
- Donate equipment and professional services
- Request speakers from InfraGard
- Request presentations from InfraGard
- Request InfraGard liason with the FBI for speakers
