The recent house and senate cybersecurity bills discussion on IGtv was informative, and the Live Chat which allowed the ability to share opinions with the other viewers.

As with all the IGtv security-related topics, the information is current, relevant, and well worth the time.

The Thursday Conference Call (FEB 2012)

This mornings presentations by MSA Security brought an awareness of the various movements going on in our country, how they are funded, communicate with each other, etc..

A real eye opener when you look at these activities from a holistic view.

InfraGard Database Development and Security Workshop 10/2011

The database development and security workshop met my expectations and as usual was a day well planned.  The speakers were the top in their field and provided the information in a manner that all levels of technical expertise could understand and moving forward apply.  The professionalism and camaraderie add to the day.  Last but not least the accommodations that were generously provided including meals and a social networking afterward, all brought me back to why I became a  part of the organization and the security community as a whole.

InfraGard Cyber Defense Security Summit 9/2011

My attendance at the September 14th, 2011 New York Metro InfraGard Cyber Defense Summit was more than well worth the time.  The day was loaded with valuable insights into the state of cyber security with a great mix of business and technical topics.   The information presented regarding threats associated with attacks such as those of Anonymous groups and Insiders was timely and in-depth with on-point guidance on methods to mitigate such attacks.  I liked the various risk perspectives from regulatory bodies, legal counsel and technology vendors.

In summary, it was a fruitful, well-constructed day and I highly recommend attendance at future meetings.

InfraGard Security Awareness Course 2/2011

The Infragard Information Security Awareness Training exceeded my expectations.  John Checco (the presenter) did a terrific job explaining not only the conceptual ideas behind security but providing valuable real life examples.

He kept the material fresh and the crowd engaged.  It was a nice change of pace and I received positive feedback from many of the Branch employees.

I highly recommend this for anyone looking to develop or  enhance their security awareness program.

March 2011 Industry Reports and Mobile Computing Security Summit:

I have attended several Infragard meetings over the past two or three years and have found them all to be very informative and worthwhile.  Because Infragard is affiliated with the FBI, I initially expected the meetings to have a heavy law enforcement slant.  I was pleasantly surprised to discover that the meetings instead cover a broad range of security-related topics that would be of interest to anyone involved in these fields.  Presentations are top-notch and participants are often luminaries in their field.  For instance, the most recent meeting I attended included a presentation by Larry Ponemon, a well-regarded information privacy expert.   Perhaps the best part....the meetings are free!   Attending an Infragard meeting is definitely time well-spent.

January 2011 Cyber Insurance Security Summit:

"I left the meeting having received an enormous amount of useful information.  I had limited knowledge of the details on the actual pricing of corporate insurance policies.  In my opinion, the information provided in the seminar was analogous to college level material and training. The training was well worth my journey on a lousy weather day.
I would venture to guess  that these details are not drilled down in a vast number of organizations to the rank and file in order for them to feel the urgency to protect.  It is truly a organization's culture that is the primary defense against breaches, and ACE is certainly on the right track in quantifying risk in that regard.   I know at CIGNA , however, we have been cultivating and nurturing a culture of confidence, trust and security mindedness throughout so that will meet/exceed the expectation of colleagues and customers.

I'm very glad to have participated, it was a well conceived and delivered program."

The FBI Infragard Show has been a great success for us at Floorview and CADD Centers. As a result of the show and the traffic at the show we have been able to generate a great deal of interest, and that is expected to create a great deal of business, for our products.

You can be sure that we will be attending the March meeting in New York and next year's national in Washington.

Thanks Again for allowing us to participate in this event.

"I attended my first meeting of NYM – InfraGard on Friday March 10th and I found the content and focus of the meeting to be both timely and enlightening. As the former acting commissioner of Information technology under Mayor Giuliani, before during and after 9/11, I found of the discussion on Disaster Management to be closely related to my own experiences. I believe that it is very important to continue the dialog and discuss both lessons learned as well as the new opportunities to leverage emerging technology in disaster preparedness and management and NYM – InfraGard is an ideal forum for this. I look forward to participating in future meetings."

"I was truly impressed with the knowledge of the speakers and the quality of the topics. This event provided an effective and focused forum for education and discussion about MSSPs. It offered a wealth of technical information and best practices for evaluating, managing, transitioning and integrating MSS providers."

I'd like to take the opportunity to thank you and your staff for the outstanding event yesterday. Once again, you have been able to draw in a set of industry leaders, experienced policy makers and technology experts to present an in-depth look at a critical area of IT Infrastructure defense. In both the December and January meetings, the level of material presented was an excellent range providing an overview of the major threats and issues, along with the detailed evaluation of alternatives.

The attendees seemed to have a consistently high level of technical and practical experience. As members, guests and speakers become more comfortable with that level of expertise and with each other, the level of frank information sharing should also increase. It is difficult to satisfy everyone in a group with the unique nature of InfraGard, but the range of presentations yesterday certainly seemed give every attendee something useful to take away.

I've provided some additional feedback in line with your direct questions as requested, but once again, many thanks to you and your team for a great event.

Today was my first introduction to the NYC Metro Infragard Membership Alliance. I learned how informative and interesting the presentations were and how much I got out of it. Each of the presenters were professional and had very important and useful information to share. My partner and I are both interested in joining and will be filling out the membership application shortly.

I think your organization is unique in many ways, not the least of which is that there is no fee. However, more importantly, the information that is shared is useful and pertinent to today's climate. When you ask someone to give up their time --a valuable commodity--they want to know that the return on their investment of their time will be there. In this case it most certainly was and I thank you for that.

As I went down the list of the five priorities I have to say I was impressed with how the technical information was presented, as well as, the accomdodations. Whether you were involved in computer forensics or attending to learn the truths about its possibilities and limitations, I think everyone could follow the speaker and walk away with usable information. The overall atmosphere had a good working dynamic to it.

I have already applied for membership and would like to contribute my skills to support the organization.

Every NY Chapter meeting that I have attended has been outstanding and excellence is the norm. The 10 March 2006 meeting exceeds that and can only be called extraordinary. The scope and depth of the panel's contribution to the Membership is very much appreciated and could easily be expanded to a full seminar format.

Congratulations to the Board and Frances Schlosstein for another excellent job!

I attended my first meeting yesterday, and wanted to let you know how pleased I am. The guest speakers and topics were exceptional. This was easily one of the best knowledge transfers I have experienced in a long time. I though the turn out was exceptional as well.

I am looking forward to future meetings and events, and am hopeful that I will be an active and contributing member.

"The NYC Metro chapter of Infragard has provided great resources to myself. During a meeting, you can simply look around the room knowing that your industry peers are all here for one unified reason. It gives me pride to know that some solutions are only one discussion away, and if I have the ability to provide input, I will."
