Since September, Long Island InfraGard has rolled out a local Initiative aimed at information sharing in our health care and commercial sectors focused on Pharmacy Crime. Our efforts have started to gain real momentum, and attention from media, politicians, and most importantly our pharmacies.

Our approach included a few main items:

1. Obtained buy-in from regional LEO and Industry heads to support our efforts.

2. Development of a small, regional task force comprised of equal partners in the pub/pri sectors in industry and law enforcement. This team meets monthly, and develops best practices.

3. Weekly open source report distributed to industry and govt (regionally and nationally) focused on trends in Rx crime nationally.

4. A regional security summit with pharmacy owners, politicians, industry leaders and media outlets to raise awareness of the issue on Feb 7th at the Morrelly Homeland Security Ctr. US Congressman Peter King will be one of the keynotes. (see attached)

5. A closed door security training for Pharmacists with Purdue Pharma, on March 8th.
